European Summer 2024
What a fantastic summer! In early July, Nikki and I travelled to Europe, specifically France and Switzerland for 12 days. Last summer Nikki managed to get Taylor Swift tickets to night 2 in Zurich so we decided to make a trip of it. We spent a couple days in Paris before we rented a car and drove all around Switzerland. What a beautiful and incredible country. Pictures don't do it justice. I asked Nikki what her favourite part of the trip was (fully expecting her to say Taylor Swift) and she said the cows! Switzerland has a LOT of cows! Fun fact: We were able to meet up with the boss man Brin Werrett and his family in both Paris and the Taylor Swift concert. We somehow both got tickets to night two in Zurich. If you have any questions about travelling in Switzerland send me a message and I'd be happy to help you with any tips and tricks we learned along the way.
Last Mountain Lake 2024
Open water season is almost over and it's that time of year, time to winterize the boat. Truthfully, we didn't get out on the water as much as we would have liked, but that is because we spent the majority of the summer travelling. Can't complain much there. Tournament wise I had an interesting summer. In the Regina Beach tournament my partner Brandon and I placed LAST. Yes, you read that right, dead last, 137/137. Luckily, we walked away with $200 dollars winning the secret weight prize. Not the two days we thought we were going to have, but we had fun none the less. This fall we also fished the Last Mountain Fall Walleye Classic. We had a much better performance. Still not in the money, but improving our placement to 37th. Next summer we are planning to stick closer to home and we will be out on the water a lot more. Now it is time to start thinking about ice fishing season!
Buying Your First Home
In 2018 Nikki and I purchased our first home. We had been renting a condo and decided it was time to trade rent payments for mortgage payments. Truthfully the driving factor was being able to give our dog Winnie the back yard she deserves. We reached out to Brin Werrett (my now boss) to help us out. We looked at a few older homes, but ultimately decided a new build would be best for us. We found a street we loved and there were a few duplexes available. We had an accepted offer on one and things were looking great, until the home inspection. Some major red flags came up, yes even on a new build, so we decided to go back to searching. Literally one duplex down we found the one. Initially Nikki ran up to the front door window and didn't like how the living and dining was seperated by a half wall, but after walking through the home we could picture ourselves living there. The half wall became one of our favourite parts of the home. It was where Winnie stood to greated us and it became her favourite treato spot. It can be intimidating to purchase your first home, and it does take a leap of faith to make that huge purchase. Your Realtor® should be with you every step of the way to make sure you are confident in your choice and comfortable with the process. Shout out to everyone's favourite boss Brin for helping Nikki and I find our first home. Winnie loved her half wall, the front window, the upstairs racing hallway, and her backyard.
